I contracted with Steve Berg of Berg Marine Surveys to survey the boat today. I met him at the 7:30 Friday Harbor ferry. Really great guy, the ferry ride didn’t seem long enough. Having sailed 50K+ miles in the South Pacific he had some great stories.

Once we arrived we met David Johnston and motored over to the Jensen’s Boat Yard for a haul out. Crusty old timer Duane was a trip and hauled out the boat like he was driving a sports car. I think David was pretty concerned, but, it all worked out.

After we put her back in the water we motored back to Friday Harbor Yacht’s docks for what was the most thorough marine survey I’ve ever experienced. Previous surveys I’ve had on other boats took 30 minutes, this one took 5 hours. The report Steve sent was great, included maintenance, things to fix, etc. I can’t recommend him enough.

Dave took great care of this boat. Nearly everything was perfect. He even fixed some of Steve’s recommendations before I went up to take ownership.
