About

I bought this boat from Dave in Friday Harbor in November. I’m now living on it at Shilshole Bay Marina and go sailing regularly.  My main blog is here.

I also lived on a boat in Boston for five years and have done several off shore trips (BVI -> Bahamas, Bermuda -> Marion, Seattle -> San Francisco, and most of New England).

Hey, congrates on your purchase. I actually went to look at your boat a week or too before you bought it. I decided to wait and another 28 popped up in Belingham so I bolted up there and bought it. As you well know there is limited w28 info out there. I would love to share info if needed to any other w28s out there. I am currently refitting mine for offshore. I am very curious to find out what others have done with the main sheet, It is too aft to take the twists out of the sails. I have seen some pictures of travelers added to the deck. I think it is hard to clear a dodger thought with a traveler there. I have tons of specs blueprints ect. Hit me up if you need anything or know someone else that does.

Ben, congratulations on purchasing Windig, and in bring her home. I have bookmarked your website and will check back often to keep up to date. Welcome aboard WOA also.

Kendall, I bought hull #52 in the fall of 2006. Am still restoring/refurbishing her for offshore trips here in the Gulf of Mexico. My mainsheet traveler is on the bridge deck. I have not figured out what I will do for a dodger yet. I would be interested in the specs, blueprints, etc that you have. I just found you on the WOA and will email you.

Ben, Congratulations on your purchase. We bought our W28 (hull #20)just a few months before yours came on the market. Bought her in Anacortes in May and sailed her to her new home in Newport Oregon in late June ‘07. Thanks for making your survey available. Makes a great check-off list. There were two items in your survey about which I’m curious. First, it said that you have a guage of some kind on your water tank. Yes? Could yopu explain of maybe post or send a photo? It bugs me not to know how much water in in my tank. Also said you had a dipstick for your fuel tank. Is there some sort of access port under the seat of the nav station so you can get a good angle. Seems like dipping it through the fill tube wouldn’t work very well. Cheers and see you out there.

I’m glad to see that you gave Miss Me a good home. We almost bought her last summer (even spent the night aboard) and she’s a great boat. We live aboard as well up in Vancouver BC, so we’ll think of you when the rains hit.

    Congrats!
